Wondering what to do this Saturday? How about a trip to check out the revamped Seoul Folk Flea Market in Seoul? Whether you're looking for some homewares or something to decorate your home, at used goods prices; or you're interested in old books, records and cameras; or you'd just like to check out the variety of wares for sale at a big Korean flea market, ranging from Korean antiques to old, everyday traditional-style items, used clothes to Swiss watches, sporting goods and electronics - the Seoul Folk Flea Market has what you're looking for!

Previously known as the Hwanghak-dong Flea Market, the Seoul Folk Flea Market has been in existence for a long time, but under the new name, it now operates in a modern building specially built for the market, near Shinseol-dong subway station. The market is divided into sections, including a food section, and the market is a place where you can find traditional Korean foods that are not as often seen these days.

Also this coming Saturday, May 30, there will be a special flea market for foreigners within the Seoul Folk Flea Market, operating for one day only. Jointly organized Seoul Folk Flea Market and the Seoul Global Center, this special market is open to participation by foreigners as sellers, not just as buyers. There is no application fee and anyone who wants to register as a seller can do so simply by downloading an application form at http://global.seoul.g....
(There are certain conditions and restrictions - check the application for details.)

Since it is right by Cheonggye Stream, after checking out the flea market, we might also take a stroll and check out that section of the stream, if the weather is good.

Time: Saturday, May 30
Meet at: 1pm at Shinseol-dong subway station, exit 9.

How to get to Seoul Folk Flea Market
By subway: Exit No. 6 at Sinseoldong Station on Subway Line No.1, Exit Nos. 9 or 10 at Sinseoldong Station on Subway Line No.2. The Seoul Folk Flea Market is about 5 minutes from the subway exits.
