Enjoy a little bit of "culture a la francaise" with your buddies at the American group!!!!

Mid-November every year the frenchies do their wine harvest and produce the famous Beaujolais Nouveau. The Parisiennes get first crack and taste trials before shipping all the "under-par" wine bottles to the USA & Canada for liquidation.

So you see... somehow us americans have an obligation to uphold this tradition. Albeit, now we are going to represent in France!!!!!!!!!

Stinky Cheese and 1 glass of wine = 6 EUR
Nasty Saucisson and 1 glass of wine = 6 EUR

Stinky Cheese, nasty saucisson and 1 glass = 9 EUR

Come one, come all, but come early, space will be surely limited and I can NOT make reservations.

See you there,

And we're back to the bowling alley on Wednesday! When the Brits heard how much fun our last bowling event with the Australians was, they realized that they were missing out. As Americans, we are always up for a little bit of competiton...but who ever heard of Brits being able to bowl?!? Haha!

Come on out to the Bowling Star in Montparnasse for bowling, beer, and socializing; it'll be a blast! Try to get there as early as possible. We can't reserve lanes so it will be first come, first served.

Look forward to seeing you there. Don't forget to bring your A game!

It is already midway through the season, and it has been a great one! There are still 2 undeafeated teams... At least until the Steelers get to them.

Thus we will make a triumphant return to The Moose.

Again, event if you do not give a "flying fuckball" about football, join us for junkfood and beers!

We will be standing by the back of the bar until (if) we get a table.

Hey are you a new in town or a not so new parisian? come by for a happy hour drink this Friday with a cool bunch of people looking to mingle and make friends. We will meet at 8pm and see how the evening goes. The place has got a floor and good music. If we choose we could also try some other cool bars in the neighbourhood.
See you there and feel free to bring your friends.

Yes....Yes.... I know what you are all thinking. "Pumpkins in Paris. Bah-humbug! Its impossible!"

Well to surprise even myself, I have successfully carved pumpkins in Paris for the past 3 years! I swear it is true!

To prove it, I am going to host The "2nd Annual Pumpkin Carving Competition" at Thistle. How many teams depends on how many pumpkins I can find... Let me tell you.... it is no easy task. Carrying the pumpkin home is the least of your worries.

So, if you spot any pumpkins walking the paris streets, at the boulangerie or shopping at Gallerie Lafayette... PLEASE bring them.

The way it will work... We will divide up into teams 1-2 hours of mad carving, then the organizers of the American Group will be the judges. This ensures non-partisan results.

The Thistle Staff will also be concockting (spelling?) a noxious brew of Pumpkin Punch, to help the creative design ideas.

Please be early, the contest will begin at 8:30pm sharp and there will be a very large turn-out.

Everyone,

Be prepared for chaos. If you want a properly and smoothly planned meetup, this event is not for you.

There will definitely be drinking, there will definitely be crazy americans and australians, we will definitely be at the bowling alley... but the actual bowling part is not gauranteed.

There is no limit on attendees so come one, come all.. and keep your fingers crossed : )

We can not reserve lanes, so it will be first come, first serve and organize teams upon arrival.

See you there!!!

This is going to Epic! Classical! Commical! and Memmorable!

It is:

Budweiser vs. Foster's
Football vs. Rugby
Hulk Hogan vs. Crocodile Dundee
KFC vs. Red Rooster

.......... and that about sums up my cultural knowledge of our brothers and sisters "down under"

Despite the many difference, we are actually more similar. We experience the same "Parisian Pains" and there is much to learn from one another.

Thus we are holding a joint meetup to get better aquainted. It may be the first, but definitely not the last.

In celebration, we resurfaced a creative idea from the past! We go B-O-W-L-I-N-G!!!!!!!!!! AMERICANOS VS. AUSTRALIANS!!!!!!! And if we can not muster a win, given one of our favorite american past times, I may be ashamed to call myself one.

*IMPORTANT*

1. This event is limited to 20 people on the American Team, 20 People on the Australian team.
2. We will do a round robin tournament with teams of 5 people each.
3. Your total scores will be added up at the end of 3 sets.
4. 25 bonus points for each set won.
5. 100 bonus points for team who drinks the most pitchers of beer! Keep receipts as proof!

What do you win? I have no idea. But it should be fun!
---------------------

Please keep close attention to this meetup page as dates and times may change slightly. I am going to attempt the impossible and try to reserve 4 bowling lanes.

See you there,

Hey everyone! It's back to the Moose for a night of NFL football. And even if you are not a big football fan, there will be lots of socializing and yummy American food (think wings and mozzarella sticks). Try to get there as early as possible so we can grab a big table in the back. Andrew will be wearing his Steelers jersey so you won't be able to miss us. Can't wait to see all of you there!

Everyone,

Sorry we did not win the lottery this year. Our reservation was too big and can not reserve 4+ lanes. We are working on re-scheduling for a later date.

Instead we are going to do something we are sure to be better at.........."Simply Drinking"

The Aussie group is joining us, so we can still talk trash and build up anticipation for a future bowling event.

The event is now open to anyone, so please invite your friends to join.

See ya,

Andrew

Hi Everyone,

Got to keep pace with the meetups even though I have lost my right hand gal (Erin). The group has rapidly expanded in the past few months and want to keep the momentum going.

So I am going to organize a Friendly Friday Happy hour for all usual and new members. Chance to have a few drinks, chat share experiences with similar minded people. All this on a non-school night.

The bar is not too big and should be easy to find the group. It also has a dance floor with decent music on the weekend.

Throw the rule book out the window and come join us for drinks!

Hi everyone!

As Emily said, she'll be taking over for me now that I'm going back to the U.S. I wasn't planning on having another meet-up, but since I'm going out that night anyway and invited some people already on Facebook, I thought I might as well invite anyone up for going out next Thursday night. We will be going to Corcoran's (Grands Boulevards) around 8 PM, and I believe Kareoke starts around 10 or 11.
If I don't see you guys before I leave, have a wonderful autumn in Paris!
Hopefully Andrew and Emily will let me back to help plan more events in January!
