Two concert coming up this week celebrating anti racism. They both stem from RAR started 30 years ago by the late Joe Strummer of The Clash and Red Saunders and recently revived a few years ago by Mick Jones (also of The Clash) and Ms Dynamite in response to the rise of right wing hate groups in the UK.
I know its a summer flooded with outdoor concerts, but these are well worth seeing. Plus Sundays concert is free!

Rise: London United Against Racism
Rock Against Racism; Original Venue Reinstated!
April 27th, 2008 is the big gig date!
RAR stands to be bigger than ever with its return to it's original venue of Victoria Park. Top acts Kate Nash, Peter Doherty & Babyshambles as well as class, classic 80's acts like The Specials, Don Letts, Tom Robinson and many others.
It's expected to be the largest anti racism concert ever held in Britain with more than 150,000 expected to attend.
The original concerts were about bringing community together and played a major roll in the squashing of the repulsive neo nazi group National Front in the 1970's. I recommend a good read by a buddy of mine, David Renton who wrote on the topic in his book "When We Touched the Sky"
Sadly the far right (nazi) BNP is well on the rise in the UK, with it's electoral vote soaring from 3,000 in 1999 to 300,000 last year. The concert is being called by many anti fascist/ anti racism organizations to help highlight the problem.
The event stands to be one of the biggest of the year, plus it's going to be free and a good day out!
