Sunday Pub Lunch: The Captain Kidd & The Prospect of Whitby

We next meet for a calm, quiet pub lunch right on the bank of the Thames at yet another great smiths pub; The Captain Kidd. situated in a well healed corner of Wapping, you'd be forgiven for thinking you've entered a venetian villa as you enter the main archway area.

We'll have lunch and some drinks in the side outdoor courtyard right on the calm, quiet banks of the Thames until the sun sets.

We move on from there to the nearby Prospect of Whitby which is a very historic pub mentioned in many Charles Dickens books and in continuous operation since 1520.

The Prospect was known as the hanging mans pub, as (When they did have a death penalty in this country) the judge would often sentence judgment on the accused in the morning and then lunch there while watching the condemned swing from the nearby gallows! (there is still a noose swinging to commemorate this!)
